INSOLVENT DEBTOR PETITIONS Series 2

Description

Petitions filed by individuals who are insolvent and wish to avail themselves of insolvency proceedings. Information includes name of the insolvent; name of party bringing original suit (sometimes with amount of debt); schedules of liabilities (creditors) and assets of insolvent; name of person assigned insolvent's assets to settle debts (if applicable); and signatures of insolvent and court authorities. Residence, length of imprisonment; occupation, and detailed reasons for insolvency may be included in the petition. Cover page includes name of insolvent, court year and term petition heard; date for court hearing and notification of creditors to appear; and decree of court regarding discharge. Some petitions have supporting papers that may include proof of specific assets of the insolvent (bills, etc.) and list of creditors notified with delivery date.
