Description
Transcribed copies of all deeds and conveyances for the land situated within the county are recorded in these volumes. Information includes date of the instrument; names of grantor and grantee; location, description, and boundaries of the property; price paid for it; fees; copies of official seals, signatures, and attestations; and date of recording. Any final judgment or decision of a Pennsylvania court which effects the instrument should be found in the margin or accompanying the instrument. Mortgages, releases, arguments, and miscellaneous records are also recorded from Vol. 1A to Vol. 2U. From Vol. 2V (1867) deeds are recorded exclusively.Other types of documents may also be recorded in these volumes and can include agreements, certificates of incorporation, declarations of condominium, deeds-in-trust, easements, installment sales agreements fo real estate, leases, limited partnerships, ordinances, powers of attorney, releases, rights-of-way, decrees in Orphans' Court, and information relating to deeds.
Note 1: Early volumes are titled "Record Book". Note 2: Vol. 1 BB overlaps volumes 1 AA - 1 CC. Letters Vol. 1J, 1-Z, 1JJ and 1ZZ were not used.
Arrangement: Chronological with books grouped in sets as volume set #1-36. Volumes in each set lettered A-Z except volume set 1 lettered A-ZZ. After volume set 36, volumes are individually numbered from 101-238.
