Description
Application (petition) to the Register of Wills to authorize an administrator of an intestate estate (an estate without a will) to settle the estate. Information on printed forms includes name of decedent; decedent's residence and death date (and sometimes citizenship information); filing date and number; names of relatives, their relationship to the deceased, and their residence; and an estimated value of the estate with the location of any real estate sometimes indicated.
Note 1: After 1961/62 Letters of Administration are filed with Estate Records.
Note 2: There are two sub-series: 1) 1885-1914 and 2) 1917-1936.
Note 3: Pre-1885 starting in 1750 are recorded Administrators Dockets 1750-1946 and in the Will Books Set 2.
Arrangement: Alphabetical by surname of decedent. Each alphabet is in a numerical order starting with #1 and appear to correspond chronologically with filing date.
