OATHS of OFFICE

Description

Oaths taken by the various officials of Cumberland County. Information includes name of of official, name of the officer (usually a Justice of the Peace) officiating the oath, date of the oath, and oath content. Some oath documents are only "certificates" that attest to the oath taken. A few appointments, resignations, and death information are also present, as well as bonds.

Some oaths pre-1819 with original signatures are entered in Apprearance Dockets.
