LAND WARRANTS West Side Applications

Description

Warrants issued by the Surveyor General to the Cumberland County Deputy Surveyor to survey land under the West Side Application system. The warrants involved land settled and improved by persons prior to 1754 who did not have warrants/title to the land. Later adjusted to prior 1758. Applications for survey were accepted from 1754 August to 1769 August. Only settlers who had built and resided within the area that was west of the Susquehanna River, east of the Allegheny Mountain range, and south of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River could apply. Information includes name of warrantee/applicant, State's West Side warrantee number, land description with acreage amount, date of warrant, name of surveyor, and Surveyor General's signature.
