ORDERS

Description

Bills for supplies, services rendered, salaries, etc. that were submitted to the Poor House Directors for payment. Information includes date bill submitted and itemization statement with total amount of bill, date Poor Directors "ordered" the bill to be paid, order number, and appropriate signatures. Orders include salaries, groceries, supplies, equipment, maintenance, boarding/aid costs to paupers/patients elsewhere (Harrisburg State Hospital, Children's Aid Society), insurance costs, medicines (including Diptheria quarentine, and Outdoor Relief Aid. Note 1: May of the 1948 Orders are on letterheads and out-of-area businesses.

Arrangement: Chronological by year and therein sequential by Order number. Note 1: Order numbers with an "A" after them identify Orders continuing a number series from the previous fiscal year and are filed at the beginning of the year indicated.

Index: None. See "Inventory" for list of holdings. Note 1: " * " indicates the Order audited. Note 2: The "ID Number" column is the Order Number to pay a submitted bill. "NN" indicates there is no Order number on the document. "A" maybe indicating payments the new Poorhouse in Cumberland County versus the old Poorhouse located in what became Perry County in 1820.
