UNPATENTED LAND APPRAISALS

Description

Appraisal drafts, bills, and support papers for the Commissioners’ work as the Appraisal Board to appraise unpatented lands on which purchase money was still owed to the State. Information varies depending on the document. Appraisal drafts and bills usually include: person requesting appraisal, description of land (location, size, etc.), name of original warrantee and date of original warrant or survey, date of appraisal with graduated land classification and value assigned, and processing fees. Note 1: Certificates of these appraisals were filed with the Commonwealth (Series #17.235 Commissioners' Certificates).
