Description

Court appointments of township and borough positions, as well as some county positions, due to vacancies. Information includes the name of the township or borough, the position with a vacancy (Election Officers, Constables, Tax Collectors, etc.), the name of the person appointed to fulfil the position, the name of the prior person who held the position, date of filing, and location of the recording in the Quarter Sessions Docket. Often the reason for the vacancy is identified and ranges from death and relocation to disqualification. Documents, such as Resignations, Petitions, Recommendations and Court Orders, can either be fastened together or separate. Appointments for a few county positions are also present, such as Poorhouse Visitors.
