An assortment of mostly workpapers relating to public sales of land and dwellings for unpaid taxes. Information varies, but often includes land or dwelling to be sold, names of owner and purchaser, land description with location (municipality), taxes due, purchase price, and date of sale. Some records include if original owner paid the back taxes or the sale offer resulted in no bidders. Note 1: The 1803-1804 public sales includes an ad sectam (defendant's) index for 1784 civil cases.
