Description
Annual appointments such as the Commissioners' Clerk and Attorney, Keeper of Public Buildings, Physician to the, Mercantile Appraiser, Lumber Inspector, and Keeper of Town Clock are often included and appointments to fill elected offices due to vacancies, such as resignations, deaths, etc. are present. For annual appointments information includes the position to be filled, the person named to fill the position, the court term and date of appointment, appropriate signatures, and sometimes wages. For elected vacancies to be filled the information includes the position to be filled, the person named to fill the position, the municipality, date of appointment, applicable signatures, and the name of the previous office holder, and often the reason for the vacancy. Also included are resignations, applications for a position, petitions to fill vacancies, and recommendations as separate documents or combined information in one document. Court appointments for vacancies in a commissioner's position are also present.
