Description
Returns certifying a marriage has been performed. Information includes full name of husband, name of father of said husband, name of mother of said husband, occupation of husband, residence of husband, birthplace of husband, full name of wife previous to marriage (if widow may include previous married name), name of father of said wife, name of mother of said wife, time the marrage was contracted, place (town or township and county) of where marriage contracted, color of husband and wife, by what ceremony the marriage contracted (religious with church affiliation, civil with justice peace, etc.), and name of person pronouncing the marriage (with residence and signature). Note 1. Not required by State again until 1885. Note 2. Two earlier marriage certificates have been filed with this series: 1817 and 1835.

Note 1: Dates are in a three unit. Example December 16, 1853 is entered 1853.12.16.
