Description

Application papers for military pensions submitted by veterans of the American Revolutionary War or their widows. Papers for an individual soldier may include petition, affidavits of military serivice, affidavits concerning marriage and family status (if a widow's application), and payment orders. Petition papers usually include information regarding the soldier's military record, especially regarding rank, date of death, and military action at time of death. Note 1: For a widow's application, family information often includes number and names of children. Note 2: Return (1784) to the Treasurer and a list (1783) of pensioners is included in this series.

Arrangement: Alphabetical by surname of soldier.
