Ten (10) booklets of 1814 Tax Assessors' Returns for ten townships. The duplicates enumerate taxable inhabitants over the age of 21 to determine representation in the PA General Assembly as required by the State every seven years beginning in 1779 and ending in 1863. Information includes taxpayer name and occupation. Freemen and slave lists are located at the end of a duplicate. Slave lists sometimes include notations for ages and freed "blacks". If there are two returns from the same municipality, often there are some differences in the entries.
Arrangement: Chronological by year and therein alphabetical by township and borough.
