AFFIDAVITS OF DEATH

Description

The proof of death by oath (affidavit) required before letters of testamentary or letters of administration can be granted by the Register of Wills to settle an estate. Information includes name of decedent and residence, date filed, death date of decedent (sometimes to the minute) and place of death, name and signature of person making the oath (sometimes with their residence), and the name and signature of the Register of Wills. Printed forms appear in 1876. Note 1: 1962 to present are filed with Estate Records.
