Description
Bonds filed prior to a marriage to financially guarentee that there were not any legal impediments to the intended marriage. Filed in the county of the intended wife, information includes names of intended husband, intended wife, and sureties (usually relatives or friends of the intended husband or wife); the obligator (Governor of Pennyslvania); and the date, amount, and condition of the bond. Place of residence often included for the sureties.
